I Love Daft Punk!

I listened to Last.FM all day yesterday while I worked on my thesis. What a great innovation! It's actually made my day of writing somewhat pleasant... probably because I found the world's most perfect radio station... called Group Radio: Ulrich Schnauss.

Who's Ulrich Schnauss, you might ask? He's a German electronic artist, and the station plays the bands that he listens to, and it just so happens that he listens to all of my favorite artists too.

I suppose I should add a caveat here... I'm pretty much all German, with a dash of English and Danish thrown in. Granted, I have never lived in Germany and don't speak a word of German, but if it sounds like a robot and I can move like a robot to it, I love it...

And I think that must be genetic.

I also have to say here that the French -- despite the many negative stereotypes associated with them (i.e.: What cowards! Such smelly jerks!) -- have some pretty good synth electronica too... like Air and Daft Punk. In fact, Daft Punk inspired this blog entry because I was listening to the song Digital Love yesterday and decided it was so great, I had to feature it on my blog today...

As a bit of a side note, would you believe my first Daft Punk CD purchase took place in Yemen, where I acquired a bootleg copy of their 2001 release, Discovery? That was actually a great trip... I got sent out to the Embassy in Sanaa with a security agent who didn't know how to drive a stick shift. Therefore, I got to take control of our Toyota Land Cruiser (and its sound system)... and we drove around for two weeks listening to Daft Punk in Sanaa!

I even have a picture of myself at the place where I bought the CD...

...although someone once told me that I look like I'm in a porn shop in this photo.

Ha!

The only Daft Punk song I've heard is that one with the video of the guy in a dog suit walking around - I think it's Da Funk? I actually have the CD single. I should listen to their stuff, I'd probably like it. When I was in 6th grade, I loved that Kraftwerk song "Tour de France".

I love the Yemen story!

Finally someone with good taste in music just like me. Electro Pop is what the Boff is all about. Let's trade... I can get down with Ulrich any day of the week.
